Private lessons for beginning and developing surfers

We’ll focus on:

Ocean Knowledge & Safety
• Developing water experience and safety: Learning to navigate currents, rips, and impact zones
 • Learning to read the ocean and recognize patterns to better position yourself for catching waves
 • Understanding basic forecasting principles through interpreting wind, tides, swell, and buoy data

Etiquette & Line-Up Awareness
• Navigating the line-up safely and with awareness through an understanding of priority and rotation
• Respecting the rules and fostering a harmonious surfing environment

Technique & Form
• Learning the fundamentals of efficient paddling, taking off, and dropping into waves
• Improving flow by developing smooth, controlled movement

Equipment
• Choosing the proper equipment based on the conditions and your current abilities
• Safely handling and controlling your surfboard

Sessions are typically held in Rockaway Beach, NY, with options to travel to nearby breaks. I offer video analysis as part of your surfing development, along with detailed written feedback delivered after each session.
